Hawaiian Pizza: A Controversial Delight

Hawaiian pizza, topped with ham and pineapple, was invented in Canada in 1962 by Sam Panopoulos, a Greek immigrant. While the combination has sparked passionate debates, with some purists decrying the addition of fruit on a pizza, it has nevertheless found a niche among fans of sweet and savory flavors. The name 'Hawaiian' was borrowed from the brand of canned pineapple originally used, adding a tropical flair to this otherwise North American creation.
