"I have been firmly in the Pepe’s camp for the best New Haven style pizza for over 40 years. But after finally trying Zupardi’s in West Haven, CT, I’ve got a new #1. We had two pizzas: πŸ• Their β€œSpecial” β€” a medium red pie with sausage, mushroom, and mozzarella. The sausage was fennel-forward and generously spread, the mushrooms added a subtle sweetness without making the crust soggy, and the char was spot on. πŸ¦ͺ A white fresh clam and mozzarella pie β€” briny, fresh, and perfectly balanced. Zupardi’s just hits a different note, and its just a reminder of how high the bar can go. The place itself is small and not fancy, but the pizza's the thing."

"We wrapped up our tour of β€œThe Big 3” at Zuppardi’s, and I’m so glad we decided to make that third stop, after thinking it couldn’t get any better, but it did! We ordered the special, the white clam, and a Caesar salad (you know, to balance out all the apizza we’d been throwing down the hatch). The salad was light and refreshing. The white clam pie was briny and bursting with flavor. But the specialβ€”man, oh manβ€”was that something else! The house-made fennel sausage really knocks this apizza out of the park. Thank you, Zuppardi’s, for another fantastic example of what New Haven is known for. I only hope I get the chance to visit again one day!"
